The Swiss Bike park in Oberried in Switzerland is a unique place, it is a training and experience platform dedicated to the bike funs. It offers a wide range of services, both for professional and recreational bikers. The Park is also a leading project in terms of accessibility for people with disabilities and it promotes sporting activity but also the healthy and safe use of bicycle among the entire population. Sarina Huber, co-executive board partner manager, tells us about the soul of this place.
Extending over 30,000 square metres, with its pump tracks, airbags and jumplines, the Swiss Park Bike is animated by the heterogeneous nature of its visitors. From children making their first attempts on a bike to families spending their free time in the park, from athletes training for competitions to para-athletes who ride the trails on special bikes.
The CLUBHAUS, the beating heart of this meeting place, is a cutting-edge infrastructure that hosts a coffee/restaurant, a shop, a repair station and meeting sales. The large wood-clad building developed on three levels, is totally barrier-free and it was built to Minergie-A standards.
The 2000 m2 roof and the external shelter which houses the bicycles for the visitors are entirely covered in photovoltaic panels and produce more than the energy needed for the structure.
The lighting project has been fundamental part of a broad and shared process focused on a main goal: build a place designed for the well-being of people.
An accessible and safe place where the careful design of light contributes to making the spaces even more attractive and comfortable, both inside and outside the building.
The key solution adopted for the lighting of the large paved spaces surrounding the building is
Stage pole mounted. It has been used in an original cluster configuration to create spot light effects directed on the ground. These spotlights enhance the protagonists of the space: special bicycles displayed on support pedestals installed in the center of the main square.
Stage has also been widely used for specific pointing, for example to highlight the logo placed on the building facade or particular architectural elements.
Another element of crucial importance is the VELOHAUS, a shelter of 60m designed to house and protect the bicycles available for the visitors. In this case the choice of IP System® offered an innovative functional and aesthetic interpretation of this technological roofing. In the evening, the linear light effect of Highlighter combined with the accent light effects of Flower Zoom oriented towards the bicycles, transforms the space into a spectacular stage.
The vibrant atmosphere that can be felt from the terrace on the first floor of the Club House or from the outdoor lounge of the restaurant, is enhanced by the combination of a sequence of suspended luminaire and appliques on the facade. Bell illuminates the tables with a warm and diffusing light effect, Apply adds a pleasant accent on vertical surfaces.
The integration of downlight effects in the external ceilings covered with wooden slats was possible thanks to the use of Ceiling. Its compact dimensions and its recessed and comfortable optics, allow to discreetly fit the luminaire into the architecture, guaranteeing excellent levels of illumination on the ground.
Inground fittings, such as Miniround around the base of the pergola, the sequence of Steps along the external staircase that connects the difference levels, Minilinear under the largest trees, complete the overall luminous balance by adding focused brushstrokes of light.
